Youngest Port in operation with annual capacity of 2.51 million tons

August 29, 2013, a fully loaded cargo vessel launched its voyage to Azania, South Africa, symbolizing the initiation of the No. 1 dock, the so called Nan’gang Dock, which is a part of Hangzhou Bay Port Zone.

 

Officially approved by the State Council last October, Nan’gang Dock is a new member in the Shanghai port family and passed the state’s inspection in the recent days. Covering an area of 230,000 square meters, the 760 meter-long dock has nine berths and an annual capacity of 2.51 million tons.

 

Nan’gang Dock is expected to serve the heavy machinery factories and automobile transportations in Shanghai Lin’gang Industrial Zone.

 

“The initiation of Nan’gang Dock not only will save significant amount of logistic costs for us, but will also greatly improve the logistic efficiency, letting us provide better service to our clients in Asia, Europe and America.” head of Dewei International Logistics Mr. Huo Zhenfei said.

 

Mr. Pan Jinlong, Vice Director of Yangshan Customs, said that Nan’gang Dock would be built into a efficient, convenient and well managed exemplary modern dock under the supervision of the customs.
